Hello,

I’m Timmofey Baudelaire.

Angkor Flaneur is where I present ‘my Angkor’.

This is a space for those who appreciate a slower, more laid-back attitude to travel.  A space for those with a preference for analogue over digital.  A space for those who reject modern selfie-based pop travel culture. It is a space for those who choose to shun organised tours, preferring instead to amble independently through thousand-year-old ruins, and taking time to contemplate and reflect.

Angkor Flaneur embodies the golden days of travel. My wish is to preserve -  in some small way - the enchanting and beguiling nature of Angkor, to honour the romance  and allure of travel to Angkor that once existed before the days of jet aircraft, digital gadgets, mass tourism and pre-mixed drinks.

For those contemplating visiting Angkor, I would firstly encourage you to sojourn here a while; stay some weeks here, not a few hurried days spent scurrying from temple to temple as most do, all the while ‘snapping away’ mindlessly with some digital, soulless contraption.  Bring your Rollieflex and a plentiful supply of roll fim, your journal and fountain pen, a hip flask of Gordons and your love of ambling and observing.

May you enjoy your time at Angkor, seeking out the quieter sites, away from the tourist hordes with their phone cameras and  selfie narcis-sticks.

Kind Regards

TB
